Senator Durazo’s Statement on the Fatal Shooting in Minneapolis

LOS ANGELES – Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Angeles) released the following statement on the fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis today:

"This is unacceptable. Renee Good was killed by ICE agents today in Minneapolis.

It is long past time for ICE to withdraw from every city in this country. Tearing families apart is inhumane. Deporting longtime community members is unjust. ICE is carrying out violent and warrantless armed raids in our neighborhoods, using aggressive tactics, and spreading fear that follows entire families. None of this makes our communities safer. Last year, more than 30 people died in ICE custody.

That's why California is doing all we can to stop the violence being perpetrated by ICE in our communities.

My heart breaks for this woman's family. We demand justice and accountability. Our communities deserve better than this."
