Sen. María Elena Durazo’s Statement on the Death of LAPD Officer Juan Diaz

SACRAMENTO – California Senator María Elena Durazo (D-Los Ángeles) issued the following statement regarding the death of Los Angeles Police Department Officer Juan Diaz:

“My sincere condolences to Officer Diaz’s parents and siblings, Chief Moore, the entire LAPD force and all Angelenos mourning his tragic death.

“Diaz was a young man from Los Angeles who wanted to make a positive difference in his city.

“It’s the work of brave police officers like Diaz that keep our communities safe, and we are deeply grateful for his service.”

On July 27, 2019, Diaz was killed in a Lincoln Heights neighborhood while off-duty.
