SENATOR PRICE HOSTS 2012 “OPERATION GOBBLE” TURKEY GIVEAWAY
More than 300 free Thanksgiving turkeys distributed to local non-profits and churches to help feed needy families.
Los Angeles, CA--California State Senator Curren D. Price, Jr. (D-Los Angeles), in conjunction with Golden State Water Company and California American Water, distributed more than 300 turkeys to pre-selected local non-profit organizations as part of his annual “Operation Gobble” turkey giveaway event on Friday, November 16th at the 26th District office.
Operation Gobble is a joint philanthropic venture of California water companies and state legislators that was established to deliver an estimated 30,000 turkeys to low-income families throughout the state this Thanksgiving holiday.
Senator Price also partnered with the non-profit organization, Community Engagement Foundation, to distribute nearly $1000 in gift cards donated by major grocers such as Ralphs and Vons.
"This program will hopefully raise awareness of the issue of hunger in California while helping those most in need," said Price. "It’s important that we do what we can to help our disadvantaged neighbors during this upcoming holiday season.
