Calif. Senate Takes Next Step to Provide Medi-Cal Benefits to All Californians

SACRAMENTO – Today, the Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Committee approved funding for the expansion of full-scope Medi-Cal benefits to undocumented young adults age 19-25 and seniors age 65 and over, effective January 1, 2020.

“No Californian should be denied access to health care and now we are one step closer to affordable health care for all,” said Senator María Elena Durazo, author of SB 29, which ensures that all Californians who qualify for publicly funded Medi-Cal have access to quality care regardless of immigration status.

SB 29 will be taken up for a vote by the full Senate prior to May 31, the deadline for bills to be passed out of the house of origin.
